Cub Camps and Sleepovers

The First Glasgow Cubs provide camps during the year where cubs practice skills they learn during cub evenings.  We aim to have 4 to 5 Camps and Sleepovers every year.

In September this year 38 Cubs Slept under the ocean at Sealife Aquarium on the shores of Loch Lomond and after breakfast went for a beautiful hike along the shore.

Next sleep over is the St Andrews night and then the Three Nations. We have a Winter camp at an indoor camp site and our Summer Camp is usually the highlight of a packed year, a Back-to-Basics camp, sleeping under canvas in Patrol tents, lighting fires and ‘backwoods’ cocking their evening meal over the embers. Wide games and camp fires with plenty of entertaining camp songs to wear them out.

Cubs attending camps will achieve a ‘Nights Away’ badge. They can also accumulate nights from their Beaver Colony days. Did you know that most Scouts in the ‘First’ will get ’25-nights-away’ badges and some ’50-nights-away’?  We even have one who has 250 nights away!
